- Display Four Footer Sections.
You can add a fourth footer column to your site if you like. Simply go to dashboard – appearance – widgets, then drag a text widget from the left hand side into footer column four on the right, copy and paste whatever code you’d like to display in that section, then go to dashboard – appearance – customize – footer options – footer option, and change the “Number Of Sidebars (section column) In Footer Area” from 3 to 4 and save changes.
You can also edit your copyright text in this same section or delete it altogether.
- Change the behavior of the Featured Slider Section.
You can make the Featured Slider area at the top move faster or slower, dispaly more slides/ posts, or have more words.
To do that, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – featured section options – featured slider options.
To disable it completely, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – featured section options – enable feature section then uncheck that little box.
- Disable Sticky Menu.
The sticky menu is a feature that allows the menu to stay visible as you scroll down lower on the page.
To disable it, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – header options – menu options and uncheck the little box.
- Display social media icons in your footer area.
As shown above, you can add social icons at the bottom of your blog with links to your respective profiles.
To do that, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – footer options – socials options then copy and paste the full link to each of your social media profiles. Leave the ones you don’t want blank. Next, scroll down to the very bottom of that same screen and check the little box marked “enable social”
- Set up an intro loader for your site.
An intro loader is simply an image that shows up on your site as in the few seconds that the visitor waits for it to fully load. You can use it for a quick introduction to your branding message, or display a free offer.
Here’s an example of the intro loader set to just plain color, but you can definitely use an image instead.
To set it up, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – layout/ design option – intro loader options. You’ll need to select an image or color, and then check the little box marked “enable intro loader”
- Disable animation.
The animation is the sliding motion that each of the sections loads with as you scroll down your site.
To disable it, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – layout/ design option – animation – disable animation.
- Change your button design.
You can change the appearance of all the inbuilt buttons on your site by going to dashboard – appearance – customize – layout/ design option – button design.
- Change the position of your sidebar.
The sidebar is currently set to the right hand side but you can have it be on the left side, both sides, or none.
To make those changes, go to dashboard – appearance – customize – layout/ design option – default sidebar layout and choose from the drop down menu.
- Change the appearance of your default blog page.
You can set up your blog page to have alternate images as shown above, and more. Go to dashboard – appearance – customize – layout/ design option – blog/ archive layout options.
If you want to exclude some categories, you can get their ID by going to dashboard – posts – categories.
Hover your mouse cursor over the “edit” option, and you’ll see the full URL for that particular category.
From the above example, the category ID is the one that says taxonomy=category&tag_ID=2, so to exclude that category, you would put 2 into the box under dashboard – appearance – customize – layout/ design option – blog/ archive layout options – exclude categories in blog/ archive pages.
- Customize your single post pages.
You have options to change how every single post/ page displays. Go to dashboard – appearance – customize – single post option
Click into each of the sections shown above and you’ll find options to control your comments, featured images, related posts and more.
